This is education, not advice
Everything published on GreenWick — broker reviews, tool reviews, lessons, downloads and emails — is general educational information only. It is not financial advice, investment advice, tax advice or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security.
GreenWick is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial planner, and is not registered with or regulated by the SEC, FINRA, the FCA, CIRO or any other financial regulator. Nothing here is personalised to your circumstances, because we do not know them. Before acting on anything you read here, consider speaking to a licensed professional who does.
Day trading risk warning
Please read this part properly.
Day trading is high risk. You can lose money quickly, and you can lose more than you deposit if you trade on margin. The small-cap and low-float stocks this site focuses on are among the most volatile instruments available to retail traders — they can move 50% or more in minutes, gap violently against you overnight, become illiquid without warning, and be halted by the exchange while you are holding a position.
Short selling carries additional risk. Losses on a short position are theoretically unlimited, borrow can be recalled at any time, and locate fees on hard-to-borrow stocks can be substantial.
Studies of retail day trading populations have consistently found that the large majority of active day traders lose money over time, and that a small minority account for most of the profits. You should assume you are more likely to lose than to win, and you should never trade with money you cannot afford to lose entirely — including rent, tuition, borrowed funds or an emergency fund.
Leverage, offshore accounts and the PDT rule
Some brokers covered on this site are located outside the United States and are not subject to the U.S. pattern day trader rule. Others offer leverage well above what a standard U.S. margin account provides.
Using an offshore broker to trade around the PDT rule has real consequences that you must understand before you do it. Accounts held outside the U.S. are generally not covered by SIPC protection. Investor compensation schemes in other jurisdictions may be weaker, capped lower, or absent entirely. Dispute resolution, tax reporting and recovery of funds in an insolvency can all be considerably harder. Higher leverage magnifies losses exactly as much as it magnifies gains.
Where a broker on this site is offshore or lightly regulated, we say so on its review page and in its cons list. It is your responsibility to decide whether that trade-off is acceptable to you, and to confirm you are legally permitted to open the account where you live.
No performance guarantees
Past performance does not predict future results. No strategy, scanner filter, watchlist process or broker choice described on this site will make you profitable. Any figures, examples or scenarios used are illustrative and should not be read as expected or typical results.
Accuracy of broker and tool information
We work hard to keep fees, minimum deposits, data costs, platform features, account types and regulatory details accurate, and each review shows when it was last verified. Even so, providers change their terms frequently and without notice, and errors are possible.
Always confirm the current terms on the provider’s own website before you open or fund an account. GreenWick accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of information that has changed or that contains an error. If you spot something out of date, please tell us at hello@greenwick.trade and we will correct it.
Regional availability
Broker availability, account types, leverage limits and investor protection schemes vary by country and sometimes by state or province. A broker suitable for a reader in one jurisdiction may be unavailable or unsuitable in another. Check your own eligibility before applying.
Commercial relationships
GreenWick earns referral fees from some of the companies mentioned on this site. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full explanation of how that works and how we keep it from influencing our ratings.
Third-party sites
We link to brokers, software providers and other external resources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, terms, security or the services they provide.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GreenWick and its contributors accept no liability for any loss or damage — including trading losses — arising from the use of, or reliance on, anything published on this site. You use this site, and you trade, entirely at your own risk.
